Final Meeting in Arusha, Tanzania Print E-mail

The ROSA final meeting was held from 15th to 18th March 2009 in Arusha, Tanzania.

The final ROSA meeting and project team workshop took place in Arusha, Tanzania from 15th to the 18th of March 2010.  ROSA has come back to the place of the first poject meeting in Africa to finalize the work. After two days of ROSA workshop discussing the results and final deliverables of the project in the four cities of Arba Minch, Arusha, Kitgum and Nakuru, an official closing ceremony was organized by the local ROSA team.

The ceremony was attended by the Tanzanian minister for environment, the mayor and the municipal director of Arusha as well as other official representatives of the Arusha region. ROSA ideas and achievements were summarized during this event, showing the  impact of the ROSA concept at different levels. In the closing speech of the minister, she stated the importance of the ROSA approach as promising tool for the future activities in the area of sanitation, peri-urban agriculture and settlement development to help using and saving resources in an environmentally friendly way.

Beside the workshop and the official closing ceremony, the pilot field sites were visited by the ROSA team and interested stakeholders. Implemented UDDT facilities have been successfully adopted by the local communities. The trial sites at the ROSA office plot showed the beneficial use of urine applied to crops or the possibility to use greywater at tower gardens. Finally, to show the intetion to carry on with the ROSA ideas and to remember the good cooperation between all ROSA partners, trees were planted as lasting signs at the ROSA Arusha office plot.
